On February 15, 2026, Gene
Borrows of Laramie, Wyoming wrote to me via the website
e-mail and told me he had an original Insane Coho Lips
T-Shirt from Disco Demolition Night.
I was unable
to get back to him until February 19, 2026. In my e-mail
reply to him, I related
some of my own memories of that night with him. I told him I was
very interested in the shirt, no one has ever reached
out to me to donate an artifact from Disco Demolition in
a long time.
I have
assembled this Disco Demolition collection over many years
by various
means. I was
pleasantly surprised that someone out there still had
an original artifact after all this time!
After a few e-mails back and forth, Gene offered to send
me this t-shirt, which was worn only once, as a donated
item to be included in my archives and for posting to
this website.
I was really blown away by his offer, I told him
that I would accept his offer and promised him to post
this t-shirt on the Disco Demolition Night section of my
website and give him full credit for his donation.
Gene followed up with an e-mail saying he had sent
the package with the t-shirt and provided me with the
tracking info. I gave Gene my work address because the
mail at home is delivered early and I would be at work
anyway when it would arrive.
The package was scheduled for delivery on Friday,
February 27th. Well, unfortunately I don't work on Fridays,
so my plan failed and I would have to wait until Monday,
March 2nd to receive it.
I was very excited when the
package was dropped off on my desk that Monday. It was about
10AM Chicago time when I saw it. I quickly opened up the
box and took out the shirt (Gene really packed it well!).
As you can see in the photo below, this is a great
quality artifact. I had my co-worker John Benedetti take
a quick photo of me with the shirt. I sent it off to Gene
via e-mail to let him know that I got it and that it
arrived
in
excellent condition.

It was truly
amazing to see that this 47 year old t-shirt had aged
better than me over the years. Besides the famous Loop
shirt, this shirt was the one that was most worn on
Disco Demolition Night on that Thursday, July 12, 1979.
To see and touch this t-shirt after so many years,
it brought back all of the memories from that night. It
was a long time ago, but it has endured as an artifact
of the time when Disco music saw its demise. Rock and
Roll music was saved and the world became a better
place!
So Gene, I would personally like to thank
you for reaching out to me and providing me with this
artifact of another time and place. A simpler and less
complicated era that has long been forgotten by many,
but still remembered by a surviving few.
I hope
that this site and all of the great artifacts that
appear on these pages, help today's generation to be
educated about what has transpired in the past, to be
appreciated again in the future.
I want to close
this by saying that DIsco Still Sucks and Rock and Roll
will live Forever!
May God Bless those that
remember the past...
If like Gene, you happen to
have any artifacts hidden away in a forgotten cubby
hole, attic or basement that relates in any way to Disco
Demolition or Steve Dahl and the Insane Coho Lips,

much!
